WUTANG LOVES THE KIDS

07/07/07
3:35AM
What a week. I spent most of the week on a cruise, where my cousin got married. I had a great time chilling and catching up with my family. Of course I ate too much. I won 50 dollars on the blackjack table. Got a tan. Well as much as a light skin man could get.
So I flew home today (Friday) to do a concert in Philly. It was an out door concert at Penns Landing. Free to the public. And most importantly, thank God it didn’t rain. The concert was great. The crowd was beautiful and energetic. We sold a ton of cds and had 5 full pages done on my email list. Can’t complain about that at all. My parents sold my cds, and Shawn was my assistant for the day. She was a cute one at that.. Anyway what really stood out to me, and what usually stands out to me at these concerts are the kids. I cant tell you how many parents are fans of my music, which in turn makes their children fans. And because our shows are usually at night at clubs they rarely can attend. So a show like today is always special. I love kids in general. Especially fat babies. (big grin) so to see hundreds of kids dancing and having a good time is always a big lift. I took a lot of pictures with them today and each one was special in their own right. Some that stick out to me were my dear 5 year old friend Jaden from Delaware. Possibly my biggest fan, and one of my favorite people in the world. As soon as I saw him he said, “I love the baby song.” First words out of his mouth. Hahahahaha.. and how about Dena’s (from the ERF fam) little sister, who was 6. She said that I was beautiful. What 6 year old says that? Every other person in that cd line was introducing me to their child, who loves my music. I can’t tell you how much that means.
As if things weren’t great already. I stop by the mailbox on the way home, (I haven’t been home since Monday) and inside it is an original copy of Madhouse 8. I forgot that I ordered it off of Ebay sometime before I left. This was a jazz album that came out on Paisley Park around 85. Though they shot a video or two, the album produced no music credits, so it has always been greatly rumored that Prince played all the instruments. I had this album memorized note for note when I was younger. Anyway I could not find this album for the life of me, and finally bit the bullet and paid the price on Ebay for it. So it was here waiting for me, and now at 3AM I am up listening to it for the second time as I type this.
Okay so these pictures are not from today’s concert. Just random pics of kids.
1. Jaden (not to be confused with my nephew by the same name) at my Delaware concert.
2. One of the fattest babies I’ve ever seen. I stopped the line to go get her, and later found out she was my cousin. Adorable.
3. Kids at my Philly CD signing at Latte Lounge.
4. Brother Stark’s daughter repping the vault shirt
5. Shawn’s nephew Cedric, and neice Christina (My Stinka Pinka) at my Plainfield concert.

I was going to add more, but I could only add 5 pics..

  3. Those are some kewl pics with the kiddies.... I bet the outdoor concerts are too kewl. You have good outdoor music, you know that BBQ music. lol I think it's funny how you said that you have parents that are fans and by them being fans their kids become fans. That's how I know soul music is here and moving forward because I can remember being turned on to artist like Marvin, Barry White, and Glady's by my mother. So I think it's great that they are passing such good music on to their children. Thanks for sharing, yet again....

  4. Eric,

I just want to say that you are TRUELY talented and listening to your music is like therapy for my soul...On many of your songs, I feel as if you are speaking to directly to me...I have all of your albums loaded to my ipod and I shuffle them in my car during my commute everyday. Sometimes when I am at home chillin..I feel the need to hear your gifted voice. I know that I am your number one fan. I am anxiously awaiting for you to do a concert in Chicago. Not many of my friends know your music but once I give them a taste, they are also hooked...Please continue to always cherish and share your God given gift. I hope that this message reaches you and touches you...It is truely from the heart of a fan...

  5. Hey Erro,
This is Adrianne Glass form Columbus, Oh. I see you everytime you come to the city and i enjoy every show you put on! I apologize that sometime the CO crowd doesn't always show their enthusiasm but we do love to have you here plus I'm always at the front to show my support! When you came back in Feb. to debut the new album at the Cove. I decided to show more support than just showing...I bought your CD. Now I have heard your music from previous concerts and my ex BJAZZ who produced one of your tracks, and I've had the oppurtunity to meet and talk with you briefly, However I wanted to develop the artist-fan connection and begin to learn who you are through your music! I played Left.. Out...@ work @home in the car...everywhere I have people at work hooked on you and they have told their friends and so on.... After playing out LEFT... I purchased the LiVe in DC. album and I love every bit of it! your comments in b/t each song has allowed me to learn more about you and build a connection on my end. What really touched me was your comment about the group "Commissioned" I grew up listening to every song made by them and I still listen to this day!! the fact that you said,"I had to make an impact in people's lives through music the way they had impacted you." This statement really touched me b/c it that is the same way I feel about my gift! When I started college I wanted to be a pediatric surgeon and i had some challenges. I coversed with a close friend of mine and explained my frustration. I then came to the conclusion that, " I was created to operate on the hearts of man not with the tools of a surgeon but through music..." and I feel that way today. the fact that we carry the same passion for music really forged my connection with you. I continued to dig for more of you past music and stumbled across the appetizer, the vault 1,1.5 ,The esoteric movement, neo soul vibes vol. 13. and one song that takes me back is THE MOON. I left my girlfriend @ work hear this song on my ipod and she almost wouldn't give it back!!! I also like Hesistation. Of course Change for me is a fave!!!! When I do my filing at work I play it and have a burst of energy and i dance!! I played it one day for 2hrs on my ipod and danced through Meijer's! At your last visit to the CO 7-21-07 U shared your experience of losing your voice and I wanted to know what u use currently to keep your voice operating at its optimal potential? Lastly, I want to say that I love your work and I'm glad you answered the call and u continue to let GOD use you!! K.I.T.

  6. Hey E- sorry I'll miss you in Chi, I'm out of town. Meanwhile, thanks for the link to the blog. LOVE the piece on kids. I thought I was the only one who loved cutie pies like that. I squealed ALOUD at the 1st pic of the JUICY toothless grin! :) Its comforting to know of a kindred spirit who appreciates observing beautiful families like that, so much imagery out there leads you to believe we don't exist. Reading the blog was such a spirit-lifter, something I desperately needed this a.m. after reviewing slides/links on the MN bridge tragedy. In so many ways, from your blog to that catastrophe, we are reminded, life is special. And so R U! Keep the peace.

  8. How wonderful it is to have an artist like you! Words cannot describe how enthusiastic I was once I was introduced to your music. My 6 year old daughter and I have sing-alongs in the car, before we close our eyes to go to sleep, in the grocery store, and just about anywhere else the adventures of our day take us, to your songs. Beautiful!!! At the Cleveland, OH show you told me about your blog on the subject of kids and your music and I HAD to add my 2 cents. Keep blessing us with your talent-I look forward to the day when I read or hear one of these babies say they were influenced by Eric Roberson! It may happen sooner than we all think! Stay blessed and I'm looking forward to another OHIO show. We love you here!
