Congrats on the new album. Have fun in DC. Dress warmly. It is 13 degrees today in Chocolate City. Icey cold. I love the name The Newness for the next album. I am excited and will be looking forward to purchasing it. Are you gonna come back to DC and do an album release party? I ask because I am gonna miss your 1.18 show in DC. I am a bit bummed, but I will see you when you come again. Blessings, Ananda
Happy New Year to you, Erro! I like both titles, but I think it may depend on the album's content. For instance, if your material is really diverse (polite way of saying "all over the place") "Music Fan" would be the way to go. Conversely, "The Newness" would be good if you're really coming with different sound and approach to your music. I don't care what you call it, so long as you drop it before you come back to STL.
First off, long-time stan, first-time posting... I have turned on so many of my friends and family to you and we can't wait for you to come back to Texas!!! (I missed seeing you in both Dallas AND Houston *sad face*)
Anywho, to the nomenclature of the new album... they don't exactly stand out.
How about "Raider of the Lost Art"? If you decide on using it, can you thank a brutha in the liner notes? LOL
All seriousness, looking forward to the new sounds man!!!!
I'm down with just getting the album, no matter the TITLE...however, I know it matters. I feel "The Newness" would be my preference because it represents new levels, new beginnings, transition, restoration,& elevation. Like an "awakening"...that's what I felt in my spirit when I heard you say it on the clip ERRO. ;-) And that's what your music does for me...it AWAKES & revitalizes me in so many ways!! You are my favorite artist!! Hope this helps!! Your music is "the truth." Put that album out so my man and I can add it to our ERRO collection!! ;-) "Music Fan" is different, unique...but it doesn't pierce me deep like "The Newness"....your music is more than that...it's "art" that could never be duplicated.
Happy '09 Eric! Neither really move me but if I had to choose, I would go with Music Fan. It doesn't really matter because I know it's going to be hot and I'm looking forward to it!
Made my day to hear your dropping another album, I can't wait to hear it!!!
I would have to say NEITHER title moved me when I heard them. I would honestly have to hear some content to pick a great title. But just from your past albums, your live show, and your aura I would totally have to agree with Kevin. "The Awakening", sounds like a great title for an Erro album.
HONEST MUSIC or RIGHT should be the title....Music fan is much better than the The Newness both titles make me think of u covering different genres and sound....
Hey Erro! Just wanted to drop by to say thanks for turning the Peppermint Lounge out last night...lol. Wanted to stay around to say hello, but we were pooped. Continued success!
Yes, I know I said "The Newness" would be my preference because of what it represents to me. However, when thinking on "the newness"...."The Awakening" came to mind...it represents "finally seeing THE LIGHT..the real..THE TRUTH"....Your music 'awakens' the soul...Think on that one... ;-) I would love to know what you think!! When is the release date!?!
out of the two, I like The Newness, because its symbolic of the times in the world right now, everything is like a new beginning, and thats the general sentiment going around, whether its musically or socially, or politically
Yay!!! Happy New Year, Erro! That's the best news I've heard all day...ok, so, it's only 12:20 :). Can't wait for the Rams Head show.
ReplyDeleteOh, outta the two, I vote for 'The Newness'. Safe travels, Chocolate City is about to burst at the seams!
I'd go with Music Fan...Newness is a Musiq song, and it doesn't stick out quite as much.

ReplyDeleteLove the track "Butterfly Girl" from the DJ Spinna project... "Eric finally doing it" should be the album title!
