I'm sorry, but I honestly think the B. Williams remix was FIRE!!! I like his better than the original and it really captured the feel of the song's theme and it put emphasis on the lyrical content, which was Genius...I dont know how he didn't make it to the top 5, but for real...B Williams had the best remix and that's no dis to any other because everyone did their thing...just my opinion!
I really liked them all...some really strong talent there! I've debated and considered, and between Terrell's DJ/Club bassy vibe and BJazz's jazzy throwback swing, I found Ahmed's to be the right combination...Hip Hop beat with live music feel, and the horns?? Yes!! Had to listen to the whole thing I noticed was on YouTube...
Yo.....B. Williams chiming in here. Was VERY honored to be in the running somewhere. Hate I didn't make the Top 5. For me, I'm going to have to say Ahmed. The others I won't comment on. I saw that comment up top and someone was REALLY rooting for me. Good to know people were feeling my remix.
Its definitely between Tall Black Guy & Ahmed my opinion Tall Black Guy is by far has the best version, his beat is fiiiiiiire!! Love the fact that it compliments the song, and succeeds in sounding better than the original.
I Like both Ahmeds and Tall Black Guys remixes. I'm so torn between both!!AHHHHWWWWWHH! I think the Tall Black Guy version is a lil bit more interesting just because he took the sample and flipped it totally different. Producers reconize other producers WORD!
I'm actually a bit torn.... Oooh love love Brandon Scott for production on If I Had A Chance on the Left album and this is different but great too! But Freshnerd is dope also! I'll be back...
I just wanna say I'm glad to be in the company of some really dope producers (defintely up against some true comp) and gotta say thanks to those who've posted, thus far, with my joint in mind! I see some friends but then also people I don't know and I appreciate all of you ;)
I thought you had a great remix too and thought you made the cut, B. Williams, but thanks for the love, bruh! That's wassup and you still gonna do big things :)
Okay, I'm stepping back from here but I promise you that if you vote for me and I win, I'm producing a "thank you/shout-out" track to send to all of you ;)
peace, Ahmed (oh, and no "R"...must have been a typo. My last name begins with a "S"...Sirour lol)
Terrell Wallace got a beat that one can "get down" to out on the dance floor...harmonious and on point. However,,,Ahmed has flow that one can ride too...smooth and jazzy!!! I say get the two together for a hot cohesive groove (-: -goldenberri
My breakdown in the order of least favorite to most favorite...
#5 FreshNerd - The new sample caught me by surprise, which I liked, but then noticed the beat was in front of the vocals and not behind it (like "1 and 3" instead of "2 and 4"). And I'm sorry, but Ben and Michelle's vocals on the original were a great/necessary part of the original! You deleted them in yours and thus I couldn't get down with yours!
#4 Terrell/Tall Guy - You came in strong with a club beat and bassline, but it was the same loop after a while with only two or three breaks but nothing else really different. On the dancefloor, maybe, but sitting/driving and listening? Nah! Was still good, but it was radio and I listen to Eric because he's not.
#3 Brandon/BJazz - It's obvious you are very skilled and I peeped your stuff on Liquid Crystal with J Rawls so it makes sense that you play so good! You started like Donny with that "Song for You" piano intro but then it got way too busy so that I was listening to all the instruments and not Eric, let alone the lyrics. Still very strong, but too many good ideas clashing together.
#2 Derrick - I really liked how you went classical with the kettle drums and string intro! Really cool, and the cello was on point! The strings could have been better as the song went on and sounded fake in some parts, but the idea was original and no loops, so definitely impressed me there so you would have been my choice to win, but then...
#1 Ahmed R - I don't know if you're listed as Number 1 by accident, on purpose, or just alphabetically, but dude! *applause* First, you started with just the female vocalist and you on Fender Rhodes or whatever and that echo on her vocals like she was breathing in and out? lol Then Eric breathes in and starts singing with just him and the beat...and then those sick chords...and the that funky bassline...and then a horn section??? Yo! Did it for me, man! I like that you didn't do too much and let Eric tell his story and you just played behind him and highlighted parts with the bass/flute lines, nice breakdowns and that rimshot break for Ben and then at the end??? I gotta give it to you, man cuz I didn't hear any loops, it wasn't busy, and was just HOT!!
You got my vote sir, and I hope you win cuz I'd love to hear what you actually produce with Eric on purpose! lol
You know, it's really amazing to be a part of this and I gotta appreciate the love being shown cuz producers usually don't get much shine, especially locked away in a studio lol
Anyway, just wanted to give a personal "thank you" to all of you, whether you voted for me or not, so just click on my name and it will direct you to my Soundcloud page where you can download my remix track for free :)
Of course I wanna win, but I do enjoy sharing music with people who appreciate it, so click the down arrow and it's yours!
Thanks, Ahmed (who wonders if the "R" after my name means "Renamed" cuz that's not my last initial lol)
I needed to hear number 5 a little longer and but my choices were between number 2 by Terell Wallace Tall Black Guy Productions, and 4 by Derick white. Number 5 was sounding hot 2 but I need to hear it a little longer to decide on it.
I want the person who didn't sound like a club tune, didn't delete the two other singers from the original, didn't sound like a really sad song, and didn't already work with Eric on previous albums to win.
I LIKE THE ONE BY TERRELL WALLACE :)
